As the advertising hoardings flash around the football ground, we catch a glimpse of the referee’s arm and the ad on it. On the bus home, we’re enveloped on the top floor by commercial exhortations, then eventually, relaxing in front of the telly at home, deep within our subconscious we think: Nuts, whole hazelnuts. We haven’t been cloned by aliens; the copywriters have penetrated our psyche. By the way, do support the sponsors of our site – and have a bar of hazelnut chocolate, while you’re thinking about it.

Adverts – you love them or loathe them, but can get neither out of your brain. Bizarre.
Makes you realise how much we absorb and retain without even realising it – the power of TV!
