Who the hell thinks it is? Are they the same people leaving messages on Andrew Sachs answerphone? OK, so there are a few amusing caricatures and the performances are good…but sketches lack funny situations. Vicky Pollard is funny once, maybe twice, but time after time? Do me a favour, put a sock in it. Its as if the BBC has read 1984 and thinks we can be tortured into laughing by repetition. All of us encounter funny situations every day; our lives are full of punch lines (not just after a few drinks on a Friday night). British comedy is failing because of sloppy commissioning, garish, loutish scenarios and a dearth of wit and satire, we’re failing to build on our historic comic heritage!
